What is the difference between spot colour and full colour printing?
Spot colour printing utilises Pantone colours to achieve precise shades, making it ideal for logos and designs with solid colors. In contrast, CMYK printing blends cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks to produce full-colour images, which is better suited for detailed, multi-coloured designs.
Spot colour can refer to one, two, three, or four colors, indicating that you are printing in one to four specific Pantone shades.
Can I print full-colour images on any product?
Not always. Full-colour (CMYK) printing works best on smooth surfaces, and certain materials may only support spot colour.
What is a position?
All products have print areas or positions - this is where a logo will look best on the product. As an example, let’s look at a pen.
One position: In this example, artwork is printed on the front of the pen only |
Two positions: In this example, artwork is printed on the front and back of the pen. |
